In all my years of writing about and for our single crowd, there has never been as many dating sites on the web as there are today. There are, however,  only a few catering to our age group although, as people inevitably age, and statistics tell us half of all marriages in the U.S. are broken by divorce, there will no doubt be more and more dating sites for us.

Hot Flashes, the chat group on my website, attracted a group of Gorgeous Grandmas who talked about a number of good and bad experiences on senior dating sites. In a nutshell, those recommended were: Match.com, JDate.com, and Yahoo!Personals.com. Yet when you venture online, your personal experience with any of the others listed below may well be quite satisfactory. After all, different people can have a variety of different experiences, even on the same site.

What’s the big deal about meeting men in cyberspace? After all, we got along quite well without it for years. Why is it so relevant now?

Well, dear GGs, we are older now, and the statistics on our male counterparts are less than satisfactory for us. What's great about the internet is that we have the opportunity to meet far more men than we would if we did not use the internet. The advantages far outweight the disadvantages.

Online dating and dating in general can be overwhelming, from attempting to write an online profile, to deciding which dating sites to join, to knowing how to proceed once someone contacts you.

Listed below are dating sites I have selected as the most successful for us. The trick to finding a dating site best for you is to determine where the men like to go. I believe those listed below may have solve that problem.

For example, I live on the east coast of southern Florida, which has an unusually large older Jewish single population. I have heard any number of stories from men and women here about their success in meeting one another on JDate.com. I suggest you use that reasoning in determining which sites single folk in your town, county, or community have had the most success. 

Most of these sites offer free registration and allow you to browse, post a profile, and review your first potential matches for free. Contacting other users will require a membership fee.

Yahoo!Personals.com – This service has more than 4 million visitors a month and 17% of their members are 50+. A demographic profile was unavailable. Cost is $24.95 per month or $74.95 for six months. SeniorFriendFinder.com with nearly 500,000 members, claims to be the largest senior dating service on the Internet.

Chemistry.com is the high end relationship site from Match.com. They are running currently a 3-months-for-the-price-of-one sign-up offer. Focuses on people seeking serious relationships.

SeniorPeopleMeet.com - A site which is recommended by members of GG's online chat group, Hot Flashes. There has been success in meeting and dating men who are members of this group.
